I won’t disagree, but this critique is almost 15 years late. I think people give MINI a pass on this stuff, but when the PT Cruiser does it, people buy Hummers and crush them...

They did away with the giant center speedo late in the last gen. I’m one of the people who liked it.

The entire car is a tribute to the original. As such you get lots of details such as the placement of the hood latch (divers edge next to the grill) the center mounted speedo (the original car had it mounted there so that the same dash components could be used for both left and right hand drive). I honestly never use the center speedo in mine but instead use the digital readout in the tach. The interior really isn’t that bad. Sure it’s not as nice as a BMW but its not bad.

Agreed. The Focus RS is in that camp for me, too. I’d still consider buying one, but when you compare it to the Golf R...

The second gen actually kept the center speedo and if the car was optioned with navigation the speedo was around the edge of the ring in addition to an analog speedo by the tach. Sadly the new cars don’t have a center speedo in favor of a giant touchscreen.

Ours has got the chrono pack, so you get the tach and speedo in front of the driver at least.

I think the Lexus IS is a reverse-butterface.
